since knights represent the 20’s-early 30s range, I feel like they are prone to more mistakes or signify more challenging aspects than the maturer cards like kings or queens. knights are still in the stage of figuring things out. which is why the knight cards often suggest a path to growth, such as what you can work more on, and the trial-and-error process you’re going through. they make you look back on how your energies in excess could be expressed in a wrong way.

knight of wands is especially representative of that. like kings and queens of the wand energy he’s got that fire, boldness, confidence that gets things going. but at times he could be overconfident in his abilities or even cocky. he’s such a passionate soul, but it could also mean he’s got a temper.

the general energies of knights are all almost the same as the energies of king/queen cards of their corresponding suit, but what we want to focus on here is the dual qualities of the knights. knight of swords is rational, tells you like it is, basically what air energy symbolizes. but he’s also prone to being too blunt, inconsiderate of another’s emotions, and being too opinionated because he thinks he’s got all the knowledge.

knight of pentacles is firm. he’s unwavering in his decisions. he thinks things through. like his pentacles family of queen and king, he’s very steady, pursuing his goals with the motto of “slow and steady wins the race.” but he’s also very, very stubborn. he’s not as willing as other knights to change his ways. he’d very uber-taurus if you were to put it in an astrological term.

you know how in western legends knights are always the pursuers, wooing princesses and charming ladies. the knights here could be seen with those qualities too. they are the “eligible bachelors” of the court cards. knight of pentacles would be too indecisive in romance though, it could take him a very long time to propose, so in a romantic question, this knight is still ‘considering.’ knight of cups would be more of a sincere pursuer for his lady. if you look at the card, he’s offering you his cup, which means he’s offering you his emotions, something representative of who he is. he’s very romantic like that. knight of cups is the “prince charming on white horse.” in rider waite deck he is literally on a white horse. he’s the image of the classic prince in fairy tales. he’s sensitive, and he cares about what you feel. but because of the volatile water energy not being fully channeled yet, he could very well be moody, overly sensitive, too emotional. each knights could learn from each other, really. that’s why knights sort of point you to a rhetorical question. “am I being sincere? am I being too headstrong? what can I learn more?” they suggest which way you should go more than other stabilized court card figures do.
